Findings

The Annex combines size and shape measurement with polymer identification by vibrational microspectroscopy. Mass-only thermal analysis does not by itself supply particle counts, sizes or shapes.

Methods and scope

Articles 1–2 and Annex §§1–2: filter cascade, microscopy or chemical mapping, vibrational microspectroscopy, defined size/shape/composition reporting.

What this source can support

A harmonized water-measurement methodology, addressed to Member States.

It establishes an analytical methodology, not a health-based concentration ceiling or a general food-packaging-release standard. Applicability to a particular water product requires the parent directive scope.
